I came out as lesbian about 4 years ago when I was very young, but now I know I'm gay and a man. I didn't know what I was, but because my mom accepted me I actually feel comfortable in my body and as a person, even if I'm not a lesbian like I thought a long time ago as a child. Maybe kids are "too young to know" but if a kid says they want to be a firefighter and later become a chef you don't shame them. If a kid comes out as gay, support them as much as you can, and if they later change their mind so be it, if that child one day realizes they're straight, they at least had the time in their life to experience more things and come to a healthy conclusion. Maybe they don't know better, maybe they'll know better when they're older, but they'll only know better when they're older if they can think about it now.

0:44 Had someone online approach me in Reddit DMs for "research" after I asked on a Christian subreddit how I could support my Christian, bisexual friend. I swear this entire conversation felt like they were very slowly inching closer to telling me my sexual orientation came from either mental illness or demons 💀. They also kept asking about gay conversion therapy... and now we somehow got to them subtly criticizing my religion? This person isn't real istg

I disagree about supporting things you don't understand. Aren't "allies" that blindly spread the aggressive ideas of the loudest nutcases in the community one of the biggest dangers to the community?

I did have a friend who deeply regreted it, and i stayed with her through it, sometimes people..dont know who they are, and jump into decisions thinking its right without thinking through it for longer, i helped her n supportedher until she said she wants to stop taking her T pills, n go back. This time i made sure to talk to her about it more so i could understand how she feels. Her family rejected her when she became a trans man so i kind of took her in, now shes getting into college and we will be going to thrift for some old fancy dresses and suits, it aint hard to support folks you just need to listen!

Another big reason why you shouldn't judge or question heterosexual-looking couples in queer spaces is that you could be misgendering someone. I'm a bisexual trans man dating a mlm enby, but as neither of us has started medically transitioning, when people see us they just assume us to be a heterosexual couple, despite us both being very queer in a very queer relationship. Even though we "pass" for a straight couple, which does indeed make it safer for us to express affection in public, we still face a lot of homophobia and transphobia, and not only belong in queer spaces, but need them in order to survive. I was bullied in middle school for being openly bisexual and gnc, and live with crippling dysphoria and transphobic parents who misgender and deadname me 95% of the time and make it impossible for me to start hrt. My partner lost many friends after coming out as gay, and was called slurs and nearly beaten up for simply going out with painted nails by some of those now ex-friends. They are too afraid to come out as nonbinary, let alone start socially or medically transitioning to alleviate their dysphoria. Having to explain how my partner, who is openly gay, is attracted to me, a man who looks like a girl, to every single person we out ourselves to, gets very exhausting after the twentieth time you have to do it. Just because we "look cishet" doesn't mean we are and doesn't mean we face less problems due to being queer than other queer people.

Interesting, I wouldn't have thought calling your wife "your partner" would be offensive. I wouldn't have thought about it as to me it's an interchangeable word, I'd say is your wife joining us? Is your partner going to be late? Does your Mrs eat pineapple? I wouldn't have thought I was being offensive not using the exact same term. I'd be happy and fine to use wife, I just wouldn't realise it was an issue using other words. I'll keep that more in mind and be more conscious of the term they refer to their spouse or partner in relationships.

I completely agree, but there's one more thing that has gotten on my nerves as a gay kinkster open to polyamory.... and that is when Pride is stolen by "allies" who proclaim their "allyship". This extends to parade floats and naturally put "ally" politicians and businesses at the front and put the LGBTQIA community in the back... it also extends to businesses who try to market to us with their claims of allyship while not sharing the spotlight on LGBTQIA creators nor donating to LGBTQIA organizations.... Even in a grocery store last week, I encountered a greeter who seemed to strike up a conversation with me about "too many gays around" and her Bible thumping... I told her "When I was a child I did childish things, but when I ceased I put away childish things and that includes the Bible"... it got her to apologize to me... I also noticed that this same issue also happens for autism "awareness" month. At the end of the day "awareness" is insufficient and we need acceptance. It is a tough fight. Side note, I remembered a few times from a few years ago when places marketed for Juneteenth and Pride that focused on stereotypes and making those occasions about "allies" profiting off of the pain. My take is be supportive not exploitative and never make an occasion for a particular identity about yourself when you don't have that identity. And of course doing what can be done, keeping in mind that allyship is not limited to an occasion, it's meant to be year long. Thank you so much for sharing your message!

Please stop spreading misinformation. You’re mixing up completely two different women. The first one shows Esmat but the second and third one are Taj. First of all, Esmat lived in the Shah’s harem so she could not have been wooed by men. That’s fake news propagated by bs internet memes. Taj is perhaps the first recorded feminist in Persia, because she chose to keep her diary, which was uncommon for women at that time. She resented that she could not receive education as much as she wanted, so she got herself teachers to learn Arabic, French and other foreign languages. She opposed the family and divorced from her arranged marriage and supported the movement of constitutional monarchy. She also refused to have nannies and decided to raise children under her supervision. All of this was completely taboos in the Persian royal family back then. She was a modern woman and a brave feminist believing in the freedom of Persian women. Taj’s life is so much more than “It’s fashion”. I am sad that you did not do any background check and colluded in spreading this misinformation. You can learn more about their back story here abitofhistoryblog.com/2017/12/12/princess-qajar-and-the-problem-with-history-memes/comment-page-1/

I really don't know any trans people personally. BUT there are at least 2 trans people in my city. One trans man and one trans woman. Both were patients in the pharmacy I worked at. The first time he came in getting his testosterone doses, I really was failing not to smile like crazy. I was new in the job and the confidence with which he came in and handed me the prescription. ❤🎉🎉🎉 I was so happy. I was getting the medication and ask if they got a dosage from their doctor. Which I do have to ask, so I ask it in a manner that implied that I am sure he knows his dosage. And at that moment he smiled a bit too. So he wasn't mad I was like 😁😁😁😁😁 In my head I was doing a whole musical of happy dances. I think I didn't stop smiling the rest of my shift.😅 Years later she came in. Handed me her prescription and than I was fairly busy with the problem presenting pharmaceutically. So it took a while and after I figured out my options, I turn to her and wanted to address her with a name and I read it from the prescription and I was... 😧 So confused and suddenly thinking, it might not be for her... I turn to her and said: "It says here Mr. But it is for you, right?" And she said, yes it's for me. I know it still has my old name on it. And I was just so happy that she understood. Cos it might have been for her husband or brother and I just assumed it was hers, until I read the male name.🙈 She came more often for a while. We had nice talks, and one time she even said, I could call her by her first name. Sadly I had to leave that workplace. Didn't see her afterwards. I remember her stunning hair. Oh, such gorgeous blond curls... This last encounter is over 5 years ago. I still don't forget. It just makes me so happy whenever I come across a confident trans person who feels safe here. Which is not as easy in my city tbh. Oh last month or so I sad in a doctors office with a nice lady. I am not sure if she is queer or trans. She is a bit older and it give more trans vibes as it gives drag vibes. But we had a nice conversation about her handbag. Which had words written all over that were very encouraging for living free and happy. Can't recall the exact words. I told her I love it! And she said, it's even better: That's a cover that has a magnetic snap, so you can change it out!😯❤ So amazing! Clever shopping queen!

Women can be tomboys too without being called men. People are so brainwashed by their societies. we need to look at history and other cultures and grow up. 😂

Although I do identify as queer, I think I'm still usually passing as a cishet. And even though I identify as such I can't deny that many of the internal struggles many lgbtq+ members experienced I have never really felt, or at least not that strongly. Same for external discrimination and mistreatment. I grew up in a very progressive environment so many of the fears and attacks others have faced before and are still facing have never been part of my life, but only what I heard from others. So although I am queer I honestly think it's more important that I become a good ally for other members than for myself. And that's fine. As you stated before, I hope that I already am or at least will become a good ally.

Literally, I started liking other girls way before I knew that was even an option. I was always a bitt confused why other girls would want to be with guys and would spend a lot of time trying to figure it out. I had no idea that women could be together until I gained access to the internet and could ask all the questions I was too shy to ask my parents.

I spent a good half an hour this morning telling my mum how happy I am that she's so supportive of this community. She didn't bat an eyelid when I came out to her as bisexual, partly because she knew long before I admitted it to myself and partly because it doesn't bother her who I'm attracted to because she just wants me to be happy. She went to a Pride celebration nearby yesterday that I couldn't go to because I woke up with no spoons. She got to walk in the parade and brought me back some really cute and thoughtful little gifts. I have known so many bad allies and I've had many friends over the years with straight up homophobic parents and other family members. But a lot of them over the years have called my mum "mum" instead of her actual name because my mum is amazing and so accepting. I am so continuously grateful for her. 💜

There’s only two things my trans friends have complained about transitioning. (All are 30+) 1) nobody warned them about freezing eggs/sperm for the future, so now that they are wanting children, IVF is hella expensive plus donors and adoption agencies are still hesitant (even though they claim not to be). 2) some of my friends who took puberty blockers and testosterone at an early age now have bone density issues (aka their bones are a bit more crumbly). Those are literally the only things. Don’t know any who’ve regretted their transition overall though.
